Inspiration

|
* Encyclopedia
of Patterns and Motifs by Dorothy Drybrough Bosomworth,
1995, Publisher: Studio Edns. ISBN: 1858912210
* 5000
Designs and Motifs from India by Ajit Mookerjee,
1996, Publisher: Dover Publications ISBN: 0486290611
|
Books on Patterns are really
a good idea, and I have used a few by now. They do not give
information or historics or anything technical, they are
just a seies of drawings taken from existing sources. Just
browsing through thousands of designs, big and small, ethnic
or historical is enough to get ideas of your own or understand
what makes a particular design "50s" or "Indian".£4-£50
|
|
|

* Russia
(Eyewitness Guides) by Kathleen Murrell, 1998, Publisher:
Dorling Kindersley ISBN: 0751361240
|
I love DK books, although
most of them are designed with children in mind, they are
always of the highest quality, with excellent photos and
intelligent comments and explaination. I use them as inspiration
books when I want real photographs rather than drawings.
£10-£20
